On June 13, 2013 Ashland County Zoning Committee held a public hearing on a new metallic mining ordinance meant to protect the people and resources of the state from the risks of metallic mining.
On June 18, 2013 Iron County Zoning Committee took similar steps. At the end of the meeting, GTac representative Tim Meyer informed the Iron County Zoning Committee that GTac had filed a “Preapplication Notification” with the DNR earlier that day.
Hurley lawyer Anthony Stella Jr. explains the implications of Gtac applying for a permit before the new zoning ordinances are put into place.

After being “courted” by GTAC and reacting nicely, like normal people up here who can trust each other, Iron County has lost its innocence and should now understand that they have been conned and screwed. I hope they rise up, fight hard, and quit inviting GTAC into their meetings and lives.
EJECT GTAC from our communities, from our motels and restaurants and civic functions. They are VERMIN.
